Mercuria opens Jakarta coal trading office

Switzerland energy trader Mercuria Energy Group has opened a new office in Jakarta, focussed on trading coal.

Jakarta-based Emanuele Novi, a coal trader with five years experience has joined Mercuria Energy. He will be joined in Jakarta in the coming months by some top coal trading talent, it said in a release last week.

?Indonesia is an important and growing market in Asia. We also believe Indonesia will continue to grow in importance as a source of coal and other energy supplies,? said Marco Dunand, Mercuria Energy President and CEO.

While the Jakarta office will focus on coal, Mercuria will also look for opportunities to diversify its trading activities.
