The company which was set up in 1975 has long experiences in the construction of power projects such as power transmission facilities and power plants including geothermal plants.
The company?s President Director Inomal Sental Jaya said investing in geothermal power generation was quite promising at present following the recent issuance of the government?s new regulation which offered higher tariffs for IPPs.
Sental said the company expected to be able to develop geothermal fields which have been explored by Pertamina. In addition to geothermal projects, Meta also planned to build and operate gas fired power plants.
?Compared to coal-fired power plants, gas fired-power plants are more attractive for us,? he said, adding that the construction of a coal-fired power plant would at least take 24 to 30 months, while the gas fired one will take only about 12 months. (*)
