East Kalimantan coal miner PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU) plans to boost its coal output to about 2 million tons this year from around 1 million tons in 2005, a company official said Friday.
Last year, its output decreased due "internal problems".
?Our mining activities stopped for about 4 months last year. However, we are ready now to boost our coal output,? company senior official Obang Subandi told Petromindo.Com adding that mining contractor PT Pamapersada Nusantara was supporting MHU?s plans.
Obang said MHU produced about 250,000 tons of coal in the first quarter of 2006.
He said the company expected to generate a same level in the second quarter.
MHU produced 1.52 million tons of coal in 2004. (godang)
