MHU to increase production to 3MT

East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Multi Harapan Utama (MHU) will increase` production up to 3 million tonnes next year after the company appointed new contractor for the mine, accompany official said.

Senior official Obang Sobandi told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that Australian mining contractor Leighton Group which started to conduct works at the mine at the beginning of this month, would help the company achieving its production target.

Obang said previous mining contractor PT.Pamapersada Nusantara had stopped operating since September 2006, causing the mine’s production to fall to just 1.5 million tonnes in the year. This year, the mine’s production is set at 1.25 million tonnes.

He did not say the reason why Pama ceased operations at the mine.

MHU exports most of its coal production.(godang)
