Canada-based clean energy technology firm Carbon Friendly Solutions Inc. said that its subsidiary MicroCoal International Inc. and PT. PLN Batubara (PTPLNB), a subsidiary of state utility PT PLN, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the use of the MicroCoal technology to increase the heat value of the coal production of PTPLNB.

The company said in a press statement on Wednesday that PTPLNB and MCII have agreed to negotiate the financing, including the costs of building and operating the MicroCoal technology facility at one or more of PTPLNB's coal-based facilities in Indonesia.

The company expects to shortly receive coal from PTPLNB and will conduct testing based on their coal and boiler specifications.

Slawek Smulewicz, CEO and Director of the company, said that the MoU with PTPLNB is a significant development for MicroCoal in Indonesia.

?We are pleased that PT PLN, one of the world?s leading utilities, has shown confidence in the MicroCoal(tm) technology and wishes to examine its use at its coal-fired power plants. Given that Indonesia is one of the world's largest users of thermal coal, this is a tremendous opportunity for MicroCoal," he said.
