Coal mining company PT Mifa Bersaudara focuses on domestic markets among others cement industry and power plants at a time when coal prices in the export markets are unfavorable.

"We still sell coal to India. But since we expect higher prices than index, so we wait until the prices recover," Harry Asmar, President Director of PT Reswara Minergi Hartama, said to Petromindo on Tuesday, adding that export to India has been put on hold until the company could obtain the desirable price.

Mifa, the first integrated coal mine in Aceh Province, is an indirect subsidiary company of Reswara. In 2015, the company aimed to produce 3 million tons of coal.

For domestic market, Mifa sells its coal to Lafarge Cement and is conducting trial supply to coal fired power plants Nagan Raya 1 and Nagan Raya 2 in Aceh.

"If the trial is successful, there will be an additional one million tons of coal production," Harry said, but did not disclose the full 2016 coal output target.
