A coal mining company PT Mifa Bersaudara, a subsidiary of PT Reswara Minergi Hartama, aims to boost coal production this year to 2.5 million tons from 500,000 tons last year.

?We set a target of 2.5 million tons coal production volume this year. We have to ramp up the production to balance our investment,? Slamet Haryadi, President Director of PT Mifa Bersaudara, said to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

In 2016, Mifa, an IUP holder in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam province, had to slowdown the production operation due to the very weak coal price environment, and the company resumed normal operation in the fourth quarter of last year. During the slowdown period, the company only supplied coal to PT Lafarge Cement Indonesia, a cement company in the province.

Slamet added that the company will gradually ramp up the coal production volume up to 5 million tons in 2018 and 7 million tons in 2019. Mifa Bersaudara has total installed production capacity of 15 million tons per annum.

Mifa Bersaudara produces 3,400 kcal/kg (GAR) coal with very low sulfur content at 0.15 percent but relatively high moisture content.
