The Directorate General of Oil and Gas (MIGAS) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held on Thursday consultation process with the Jambi Provincial administration as part of requirements to get the minister?s approval for the first plan of development (POD 1) of the North West Kenanga field in Batanghari block operated by CNOOC Ltd.
?The POD 1 of Batanghari working area has been submitted to the MGAS, and today consultation process with the Jambi administration is in progress as required under existing regulation for the approval of the POD by the minister,? said Upstream Director at MIGAS, Tunggal Kartodimedjo to Petromindo.com on Thursday.
Tunggal said that after the Jambi provincial administration provided its inputs for the Batanghari POD, the draft of the approval letter will be immediately sent to the minister. ?It will then depend on the minister (on whether to approve the POD),? he said.
Chinese firm CNOOC Ltd, through CNOOC Batanghari Ltd owns 87 percent of Batanghari block, with the remainder held by PT Gregory Gas Perkasa.
In February 2013, the firm had drilled four wells, namely Kenanga 1, Matahari 1, Kenanga 2 and Kenanga 3. All the wells were dry, except for Kenanga 1, where discovery was made at carbonate basement.
