Military sues Elsham on Freeport shooting incident

The Indonesian military (TNI) will soon sue Elsham Papua, a non-governmental organization, for accusing it being involved in the attack of civilians near PT Freeport Indonesia?s operating base in Papua recently, Pos Kota reported on Saturday.
Army chief of staff, General Ryamizard Ryacudu said in Jakarta on Friday that the legal suit would be handled by the chief of the military command for Papua, Maj Gen Mahidin Simbolon.
"We want the accusation made by Elsham to be legally processed because it had damaged the good name of TNI," he said.
Two Americans were killed during the incident, and several others suffered serious injury.
Meanwhile, Kompas daily reported military investigator team headed by military police commander Maj Gen Sulaiman AB had arrived in Papua to investigate military involvement in Freeport shooting incident. (*)
