Mine-mouth power plants to ramp up oil and gas production

Indonesian Association of Geologist (IAGI) proposed that building the so-called mine-mouth power plants could be promising solutions for the country to ramp up the oil and gas productions by utilizing the small-scaled oil and gas fields.
The development of mine-mouth power plants which would be built near the marginal oil and gas fields could save investments of between US$5 million and $10 million on pipes and compressors equipment.
?The pressure of gas needed to generate the mine-mouth power plants could be about 100 psi (per square inches),? chairman of the association, Rovicky Dwi Putrohari told press conference on Thursday.
He said that the association detected a number of small-scaled oil fields with the reserves of between 10 million and 15 million barrel offshore and less than 5 million barrel on the land.
?But such marginal oil and gas fields still untouched so far due to its uneconomical value. The mine-mouth power plant could be one of the answer to utilize it,? he said.
