Miners operating in forest areas based on the so-called use and borrow permit issued by the Ministry of Forestry are now required to appoint a policy advisor in the field of forestry, according to a new Minister of Forestry Regulation No P.65/Menhut-II/2013.
The regulation, a copy of which was obtained Thursday, stipulates the procedure in appointing the policy advisor, and what its responsibilities are. In case the miners fail to appoint the policy advisor, the ministry?s Secretary General will appoint one for them.
The policy advisors are either former senior officials of the ministry or other government institutions with expertise in the field of forestry.
