The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources urged mining companies to quickly settle their overdue non-tax financial obligations to the state such as royalty, Investor Daily reported on Saturday.
Director of Coal and Mineral Revenue at the ministry, Jonson Pakpahan was quoted as saying that the miners have until March 31 of this year to settle their unpaid non-tax financial obligations to the state.
He said that the overdue non-tax financial obligations is estimated at Rp 3.7 trillion, down from Rp 26.2 trillion last year, mostly owed by mining companies holding so-called IUP mining permits, which have yet to obtain the clear and clean (C&C) status. Part of the unpaid financial obligations are also owed by some coal miners holding the coal contracts of work (PKP2B).
Jonson said that if the miners fail to settle the overdue financial obligations by the March 31 deadline, the ministry will hand over the case to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
He also said that miners whose IUP permits have been revoked by the government are also required to settle their unpaid financial obligations to the state. (*)
