The government has renewed calls for mineral and coal miners to realize reclamation on ex-mine area in a bid to protect environment and biodiversity and creating sustainable economic development in the regions with mining areas.
Director General for Mineral and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Thamrin Sihite made such call on the opening speech a mining seminar in Yogyakarta in June. The seminar, organized by the ministry, was attended by 438 participants including officials and mineral and coal miners from across the country.
"Building image is important for mining company now. It could be reached through post-mine reclamation to protect environment and biodiversity," he said.
The seminar discussed among others regulation on post-mine reclamation, the procedure for calculating reclamation fund; and included visits to PT Antam Kutoarjo and PT Jogja Magasa Iron.
