During a meeting with the country?s top mining executives late last week, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan reminded miners to properly pay their financial obligations including royalty to the state.
Director General of Mineral and Coal Bambang Gatot Ariyono said on Tuesday that in the meeting the miners were reminded to comply with the existing regulations on financial obligations to the state so that the government could meet this year?s target of non-tax revenue from the mining sector. ?Mining companies must properly pay their financial obligations to the state including royalty on time,? he said, but stopped short of disclosing what sanctions will be given to those failing to make the payment properly.
Bambang said that as per the first semester of this year, the non-tax revenue from the mining sector has reached half of the full-year target of Rp 32 trillion. ?It?s already about (50%), hopefully on track (to meet the full-year target),? he said.
