The Indonesian Mining Association (IMA), a non-profit organization grouping the country's mining companies, has donated construction materials worth Rp 100 million (1$=Rp 9,000) to victims of the recent earth quake in Bengkulu, Republika reported on Saturday.

The association hoped that the construction materials, which had been delivered through the local government, could be used to rebuild houses damaged during the quake.

IMA said that the contribution came from its members, also including mining firms, which have yet to start commercial production. "Some of the association members such as Freeport and Rio Tinto have delivered their donations directly to the victims," it said in a statement.

"The fund raising program to help the quake victims is continuing," the association said, adding that the funds to be collected would be soon delivered directly to the quake victims, it added. (*)
