The East Kalimantan mining authority will send its staffs to investigate the alleged environmental destruction made by coal mining firm PT Fajar Bumi Saksi (FBS).

Head of the East Kalimantan office of the ministry of mineral resources and energy Istiarjo was quoted by the local Suara Kaltim daily as saying that if the coal mining company was proven to have damaged the environment, the company 's operation had to be temporarily halted to make amendments in its operation.

Local villagers have accused that the underground tunnel dug by the company had caused landslide in the area.

The villagers have also accused that the tunnel was made in a bid by the company to still the coal reserves located in the villagers land outside its concession area. (*)
