North Barito Regent Badaruddin said that there were at least 15 coal-mining investors which had vowed to maintain investment in the district.
He pointed out as example that three coal mining subsidiaries of BHP Mineral Holdings Ltd. including PT Lahei Coal, PT Ratah Coal, and PT Joloi Coal will soon conduct a general survey. The three has just recently signed mining contract with the government.
Badaruddin admitted that many of coal mining investors which have obtained the necessary licenses have yet to start making investment because of the relatively poor infrastructure condition in the area.(Amoros)
