Mining investment in Barito Utara reaches Rp 12 billion

Mining Investment in Barito Utara district reached Rp 12 billion (US$=Rp9,000) in 1999, mostly focusing on coal mining, according to an official at the Central Kalimantan's energy and mineral resources office, Alfied E. Nanjau.

As of August 2000, according to Alfied, Barito Utara recorded 4 companies holding contract of works (KK), 10 companies holding coal-mining contracts of work (PKP2B) and three mining licenses (KP).

The four KK holders included PT Indo Muro Kencana, that had conducted explorations on its concession of 47,962 hectares spreading in Murung, Permata Intan and Tanah Siang subdistricts; PT Kalimantan Surya with concession of 121,900 hectares and PT Danum Bukit Mineral Indonesia Mining and Mineral with concession of 833,900 hectares. The last two companies were still in their general exploration stage.

Meanwhile PKP2B holders included PT Marunda Graha Mineral (in its exploitation stage in its concession of 72,356 hectares in Tanah Siang, Laung Tuhup and Murung subsdistricts); PT Dhamar Tejokencono (in the general exploration stage over its 131,300-hectare concession), PT Asmin Bara Jaan (with concession of 10,990 hectares spreading in Murung and Permata Intan subdistricts); PT Multidi (with concession of 10,990 hectares in Murung and Permata Intan subdistricts); PT Multi Tambang Jaya Utama (with concession of 99,350 hectares in Gunung Purei, Teweh Timur dan Gunung Timang subdistricts).

The other PKP2B holders included PT Suprabari Mapanindo MN (with concession in Teweh Tengah and Montallat subdistricts), PT Batubara Duaribi Abadi (with 91,590 hectare concession in Teweh Timur, Gunung Timang, Gunung Purei subdictricts); PT Kalteng Coal (with concession of 91,360 hectares); PT Marusi Coal (99,600 hectares); PT Pari Coal (98,910 hectares) and PT Sumber Barito Coal (100,300 hectares.
