Export value of mining products decreased by 9.29 percent to US$28.55 from January to November 2012 on yearly basis, Head of National Statistic Bureau (BPS) Suryamin said in its monthly report.

Suryamin said that the government policy on export restriction coupled with the weakening global demand were the main contribution for the decline of export value.

"It (the declining of export value) is due to the combination of the government restriction policy and weak demand at global market," he said.

The government has imposed a 20 percent export duty on 65 raw mining products since May 2012 as part of the government's move to ban the export of raw mineral.

Miners are also required to build smelters to process mineral ores to increase added value before they can be exported.

Director General of Mineral and Coal Thamrin Sihite has insisted that the policy aimed at controlling export of mineral ores would continue taking place this year.
