Minister of Labor Jacob Nuwa Wea praised the coal giant company PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in East Kalimantan for the way it handles the various labor issues within the company, the local Kaltim Post daily said.
The paper said that the Minister visited on Sunday KPC?s operation in Sangatta, East Kutai regency. He was accompanied by other ministry officials, and senior officials of both the provincial and regency administrations.
?The minister said he?s satisfied and asked us to keep up the good job,? said company public relations official Santy Nur Mariah.
KPC had been hit by various labor problems recently. But the company has been able to resolve the problems, and recently it managed to sign an agreement with four labor unions within the company to help avoid problems that would disrupt operation.(*)
