Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa said on Tuesday that miners operating in the country should have a good corporate social responsibility (CSR) program and involve the local community in their mining business in a bid to build a good relation with them.

Minister Hatta made the statement following the attack of PT Indomuro Kencana in Central Kalimantan on Saturday by illegal miners that injured six people.

"We want the present of investment (in the mining sector) to bring benefit for the local community with its program not only CSR but there is also an in involvement of local community," he said.

The mining firms must have policy which makes the local community to "have sense of owning of the firm. This is very important," said Hatta.

The minister pointed out that mining firms which have such policy in place have never faced such problem.
