Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan is scheduled to inaugurate Tuesday morning an onshore receiving facility (ORF) in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan Province, owned by Italian firm Eni to facilitate gas production from the latter?s Jangkrik gas development project, according to a ministry statement.
As has been previously reported, Eni started in May of this year gas production from the Jangkrik development project, which comprises of Jangkrik and Jangkrik North East gas fields, located in the Muara Bakau block, Kutei basin, in the deep water of Makassar Strait.
Gas production from ten deep-water subsea wells are processed on board a floating production unit (FPU), which will then flow via a dedicated 79km pipeline to the ORF, and then through the East Kalimantan Transportation System, finally reaching the Bontang gas liquefaction plant.
The FPU and ORF forms an integrated production facility of the Jangkrik development project.
Gas volumes from Jangkrik will supply the local domestic market as well as the LNG export market, providing a significant contribution to Indonesia?s current energy requirements and future economic development, the ministry said in the statement.
The statement said that gas production from the Jangkrik development project has now reached 600 mmscfd, or equal to 100,000 barrel oil equivalent per day.
Eni is the operator with a 55 percent stake of the Muara Bakau PSC through its subsidiary Eni Muara Bakau B.V. The other partners are ENGIE E&P (through its subsidiary GDF SUEZ Exploration Indonesia BV) with 33.334 percent and PT. Saka Energi Muara Bakau with 11.666 percent.
