Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik has recently issued Minister Regulation No 5/2014 on the guidelines for electricity accreditation and certification.

Every electricity installation must be certified and accredited to help ensure reliable, safe, and environmentally friendly electricity supply, Director General of Electricity Jarman said on Friday.

He added that by enacting the regulation, the procedure for consumers to get electricity supply into their houses would also be streamlined, drastically cutting down the process from 120 days to 40 days. ?The cost will also be reduced by 40 percent,? he said.

This in turn would hopefully improve the country?s international standing in terms of the ease of getting electricity as regularly surveyed by the World Bank.
