Minister issues regulation on real time oil, gas production monitoring system

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan signed on November 25 Ministerial Regulation No 39/2016 on real time online-based oil and gas production monitoring system.
The ministry?s Directorate General of Oil and Gas said in a statement obtained late Tuesday that to help improve monitoring of oil and gas production, flowmeter and its supporting facilities will be installed in every oil and gas working area.
According to the regulation, upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas will be in charge in the provision and installation of the flowmeter and its supporting facilities.
The regulation stipulates that oil and gas contractors are obliged to provide access for the construction, installation, operation and maintenance of the monitoring system. The minister will provide administrative sanction to contractors failing to implement their obligations as recommended by SKK Migas.
