Minister of Tourism Arief Yahya has proposed for the development of tourism special economic zone (SEZ) in Bandung Regency, West Java Province, which houses the Ciwidey tourism area.
Arief was quoted in a statement issued by the ministry on May 17 that to help realize tourism SEZ plan, the Bandung Regency must prepare three elements, namely attraction, accessibility and amenity.
Arief said that one of the challenges is in terms of access to the areas to help attract fresh investments in the tourism sector. Therefore, he said that new investment in road development must be made, as well as reviving the railway lines in Bandung Regency.
He said that the tourism SEZ in Bandung Regency is part of the seven tourism SEZs proposed by the ministry, two of which in Cikidang and Pelabuhan Ratu (Sukabumi Regency) have been realized.
