Indonesia?s fuel stocks are currently enough to cover 25 days of domestic consumption, which is a secure level, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said Wednesday.
?People do not have to worry about our fuel stocks. They are secure,? the minister told reporters.
There are worries that U.S.-led war against Iraq would disrupt crude oil supply from the Middle East to Indonesia, thus causing a drop in fuel supply for the country?s domestic market.
Meanwhile, the downstream director of state oil and gas firm Pertamina, Muchsin Bahar, said that the country might have to adopt allotment mechanisms for the distribution of fuel in case fuel stocks drop to a critical level.
Muchsin told Petromindo.Com however that Pertamina had far in advance taken anticipatory measures to maintain enough fuel stocks. (godang)
