Minister to submit 15 candidates for directors general to President

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said is set to submit this week 15 names as candidates to fill in senior posts at the ministry to President Joko Widodo this week for final selection.

The ministry is looking for new officials to fill in the positions of directorate general of oil and gas; electricity; minerals and coal; and new renewable energy and energy conservation (EBTKE) and DEN secretary general.

The ministry said in a statement Tuesday that the selection process started in October of last year, screening 110 candidates in the first round, and then 31 in the following round.

Instead of picking up the senior officials himself, the minister introduced an auction system, a copy of a process introduced by Joko Widodo when he was governor of Jakarta.

Sudirman said in the statement that he expected the president to make a decision by early next month.
