Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Jero Wacik unveiled on Friday part of the job description of Rudi Rubiandini, who was installed last month as new vice minister to replace the late Widjajono Partowidagdo.
Jero asked Rudi to help Director General of Oil and Gas Evita H. Legowo to boost the number of oil and gas contract awards.
?I asked the director general to work harder. I asked the vice minister to contribute so that we can sign 50 oil and gas contracts each year. Please facilitate (investors), simplify and clarify administrative procedures. There shouldn?t be any governmental officials who try to make things harder, because we need new oil and gas blocks for the future of Indonesian oil and gas industry,? Jero said during the ceremony to sign 10 oil and gas blocks.
?Our target is not only signing contracts, but also producing oil and gas for the welfare of the Indonesian people,? he added.
Rudi has also been asked to establish a system to ensure contract recipients meet their commitment.
?I asked the vice minister to create a system in which the progress of activities of each block that has been awarded to contractor can be monitored each year. If the assessment indicates there are no signs of life in the block, issue warning to the contractors. If they ignore the warnings, reprimand them,? he said.
