Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said has urged state-owned electricity firm PT PLN to sign the power purchase agreement (PPA) for the entire capacity of the Benowo waste power plant in Surabaya, East Java.
?It must be remembered that PLN is a state instrument to help ensure power supply for all citizens,? Sudirman said in a statement Monday.
The statement said that PLN has already signed PPA for 1.65 MW of electricity output from the Benowo waste ?to-energy power plant, and must sign PPA for the remaining capacity 8.31 MW.
The power plant, which processes 1,000 tons pr day of Surabaya?s solid waste into electricity, was completed last year. It was developed by PT Sumber Organik under a 20-year build, operate, and transfer scheme.
