Ministry assigns Pertamina to distribute gas to households

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ignasius Jonan had on January 24 issued Ministerial Decree No 11 K/10/EM/2019 on assigning state-owned oil and gas holding company PT Pertamina to distribute natural gas to households in several cities and regencies, and developed the required household gas pipelines in the 2019 budget year.
The Ministry said in a statement on Monday that under the decree, Pertamina will realize the program via its gas sub-holding company PT PGN Tbk.
According to the decree, Pertamina through PGN shall distribute gas to households and develop the required pipeline networks in Dumai City, and several regencies including Karawang, Purwakarta, Cirebon, Bojonegoro, Lamongan, Pasuruan, Probolinggo, Kutai Kartanegara, and Banggai.
Household gas pipeline networks shall be expanded in Aceh Utara Regency, Palembang City, Jambi City, Depok City, Bekasi City, Mojokerto Regency, Mojokerto City, and dan Wajo Regency.
The ministry will determine the gas volume, and upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas will allocate the required gas.
PGN is allowed to appoint its affiliate as well as cooperate with third parties in realizing the program, which will be funded by the 2019 state budget, the ministry said.
