Ministry, BPMIGAS in talks to resolve dispute

Upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources are now in talks to find solution over the deadlock in the appointment of BPMIGAS deputies.

?Both parties are currently in negotiation, facilitated by Coordinating Minister of Economics Hatta Radjasa. I hope we can soon find solution so that there will be no need to bring the case to state administrative court,? BPMIGAS Chairman R. Priyono said on Friday.

Priyono earlier said that BPMIGAS will take the case to state administrative court by the end of this month.

The dispute began when Minister Darwin Zahedi Saleh appointed three new deputies for BPMIGAS, but only one was appointed in line with Priyono?s recommendation. Priyono objected the decision as he insisted that according Government Regulation No 42.2002 on BPMIGAS, deputies are appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources based on recommendation from the agency.(godang)
