Ministry certifies firms to carry out oil, gas safety inspection

The Directorate General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued on Wednesday letters of approval for six companies to be able to carry out safety inspection of equipment and installations in upstream oil and gas activities, according to a senior official at the directorate.

Patuan Alfons, Director of Oil and Gas Technique and Environment at the ministry, said that the directorate also issued temporary letters of approval for 11 companies. These companies are given six months to fulfil requirements including ISO 17020 certification, and certification of qualification and competency of their inspection experts as well supporting experts.
