Research and Development Agency for Energy and Mineral Resources has completed a new map of renewable energy potentials to help support government, be it central and regional, as well as investors in the development of renewable energy projects.
At present, the map only covers potentials for solar, micro-hydro, wind and biomass based energy, a statement from the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said on Monday.
The Agency will continue to carry out further mapping of renewable energy potentials in support of the government?s long-term energy mix target. By 2025, renewable sources of energy are targeted to contribute about 17 percent of national energy generation.
To achieve the target, Indonesia will need to increase the electricity generation capacity by 2,846 MW (micro-hydro), 180 MW (biomass), 970 MW (wind), and 870 MW (solar), added the statement.
