Since it was launched on November 2 of last year, the web applications Minerba Online Monitoring System (MOMS) and the Electronic System for Non Tax State Revenue from Mineral and Coal (e-PNBP), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has continued to promote the apps to various industry stakeholders.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arcandra Tahar, for instance, held a gathering on Tuesday in Pekanbaru, Riau Province, to promote MOMS and e-PNBP in a bid to bolster transparency in the mineral and coal (Minerba) sector.

Arcandra was quoted by ministry statement as saying that through MOMS and e-PNBP the government can monitor mineral and coal production online without having to visit the mines, and provide a more accurate calculation on the financial obligations that must be paid by the miners to the state, thus reducing the possibility of under payment by the miners.

He said that all mining companies holding permit issued by the central government has fulfilled their financial obligations.  In contrast, only 40 percent of miners holding permits issued by local administrations which have fulfilled their obligations.

“I hope that all mining firms under the supervisory of local administrations can follow this system, so that the provincial governments can also obtain benefits from this system, where around 80 percent of revenue from the mining sector can return to the producing regions,” he explained.
