Ministry drafts new regulation on geothermal tender

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is drafting a new ministerial regulation on mechanism or procedure in appointing developer of a geothermal working area.

Director General of Renewables and Energy Conservation at the ministry, Rida Mulyana said on Friday that the new ministerial regulation, which is expected to be issued this year, will be an implementing regulation of Government Regulation No 7/2017 on utilization of geothermal, under which the directorate has been allowed to select developer of a geothermal working area via direct appointment instead of the traditional tender mechanism.

He said that the new ministerial regulation will detail the technical procedure in making the direct appoint. ?It?s a mere administrative process,? he said, following a meeting at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs. (*)
