The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said that flowmeters have been installed in 108 oil and gas wells in the country to better measure oil and gas production.
The ministry said in a statement on Wednesday that in target is to install flowmeters in 209 wells. It said that installation process in 62 wells is currently underway, while installation of the facility in 35 wells have yet to start. ?So the progress is around 83 percent,? said Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry, Ego Syahrial said in the statement.
He said that the installation of the flowmeters is to help boost transparency and accountability in measuring the country?s oil and gas output.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources last year issued Ministerial Regulation No 39/2016 requiring the installation of flowmeter at oil and gas blocks operated by production sharing contractors in the country to help better measure oil and gas production at each well. The regulation stipulates that the flowmeters must have already been installed within a six-month period ending May 25, 2017.
Engineering services company and equipment supplier PT Global Hadictech had in February of this year won tender for the installation of the flowmeters.
