Ministry issues new regulation on overhead power line

The Directorate General of Electricity held a gathering on Friday to inform power industry players on about the newly-issued ministerial regulation on rules pertaining to the construction of overhead powerlines and information system on certified electricity technicians.

The regulation in question is Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) Regulation No. 18/2015 on Clearances and Minimum Safe Distances at High Voltage Overhead Powerlines (SUTT), Extra High Voltage Overhead Powerlines (SUTET) and Single Current High Voltage Overhead Powerlines (SUTTAS). The new regulation replaced Ministerial Regulation No. 01.P/47/MPE/1992, which has been considered as out of date in view of the latest development of technology and regulation system.

The new regulation provides guideline for developers to identify objects of compensation, such as lands, buildings and plants that they need to clear under the SUTT, SUTET and SUTTAS, the directorate general said in a statement.

During the event, the directorate general also explained it has created an online Information System on Certification of Electricity Technician (SKTTK) as a center of data and information regarding competent technicians who have been certified by accredited certification agencies
