The government has appointed new leaders for the ministry of energy and mineral resources.
The decree signed by Vice President Megawati Soekarnoputri on Jan. 9 reinstated Djoko Darmono in its former position as the ministry's secretary general and Rachmat Sudibyo as director general of oil and gas.
Former director general of mining Surna Tjahja Djajadiningrat was named as head of the ministry's education and training center, while former director of mining venture development Simon Felix Sembiring was appointed head of the ministry's research and development center.
The directorate general of mining has been liquidated and merged with the directorate general of geology and mineral resources following the implementation of the Autonomy Law No. 22/1999, which transfers the central government's right of managing the country's mining industry to the regional administrations.
Former director general of electricity and energy development Endro Utomo Notodisuryo was appointed the ministry's inspector general to replace Maj. Gen Muzani Syukur.
Muzani will return to the Indonesian military (TNI) headquarters.
Luluk Sumiarso took over from Endro as director general of electricity and energy utilization.
Surjantoro was replaced by Wimpie S. Tjetjep as director general of geology and mineral resources.
The new leaders were installed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro in a ceremony at the ministry on Wednesday. (Godang)
