Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro said on Monday he would inaugurate the new organization of the ministry and install several new top leaders of the ministry early next month.

Under the new organization, the directorate general of mining will be merged with the directorate general of geology and mineral resources following the recent implementation of the Autonomy Law No. 22/1999 which transfers all the former's job to regional administrations.

"I say we'll put this (the merger of both directorates and the installment of new leaders) in place in February," he told Petromindo.Com in his office.

Purnomo said the government had issued a presidential decree on the ministry's new organization, which is expected to be followed by the issuance in February of another presidential decree on the appointment of officials to fill top positions in the new organization.

Rumors have it that senior official Wimpie S. Cecep will be promoted to be director general of geology and mineral resources, while current director general of mining Surna T. Djajadiningrat will become head of the ministry's education and training center and current director of mining development Simon Sembiring as head of the ministry's research and development.
