The Ministry of Finance and National Land Agency (BPN) have submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources their formal observations and suggestions on a government draft regulation dealing with upstream oil and gas sector, an official told Petromindo.com Thursday.

Meanwhile, two other agencies have yet to complete their examination over the same draft regulation and deliver over to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources the results of their work. They are the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights Affairs, said Oil and Gas Director General Iin Arifin Takhyan.

Iin refused to disclose the contents of the observations and suggestions from the Ministry of Finance and BPN.

The four agencies received the draft government regulation, together with a draft government regulation on downstream oil and gas sector, early this month. They were asked to submit to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources the results of their observations and suggestions on the draft regulations by early next month.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources had planned to submit the draft regulations to the President also next month.

The draft regulations are meant to support the current Oil and Gas Law that became effective in 2001. (godang)
