The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has offered four sources of gas to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN for the planned 1,600 MW PLTGU Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant, Koran Tempo reported on Wednesday.

?Gas for PLTGU Jawa-1 has been offered to PLN, the volume is sufficient,? said Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry, IGN Wiratmaja Pudja, as quoted by the paper.

Wiratmaja said the gas sources included Tangguh LNG plant, Bontang LNG plant, Bangka field in Chevron?s IDD project, and the Muara Bakau block.

He, however, said that there is no decision yet as the government and the gas producers have yet to reach agreement on the price.

Head of PLN?s Gas and Fuel Division, Chairani Rachmatullah confirmed the gas offer, adding that the company hopes a deal can be signed soon as tender for the Jawa-1 project is nearing completion.

PLN declared earlier that a consortium of PT Pertamina, Marubeni and Sojitz as the lowest bidder in the tender for the development of the Jawa-1 combined-cycle power plant project.

PLN is expected to announce the final winning bidder soon if there is no objection from other tender participants. (The objection period was scheduled to end October 18, according to a source). (*)
