The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will set up five LNG stations spread across multiple ports on Java Island in order to support the provision of the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
Director General of Oil and Gas at the ministry IGN Wiratmaja said that IMO has adopted emission limits in 2020 for the shipping industry.
"IMO requires lower emission in 2020 and LNG is most suitable for it because it is a low-emission fuel for ships," said Wiratmaja.
Wiratmaja said, the five LNG stations include Mini LNG Plant in Karawang, West Java, with a capacity of 5 mmscfd, LCNG station in Cirebon, West Java, with a capacity of 0.5 mmscfd, LCNG station in Kaligawe, Central Java, with a capacity of 0.5 mmscfd, LCNG station in Gresik, East Java, with a capacity of 0.5 mmscfd and the LCNG station in Banyuwangi, East Java, with a capacity of 0.5 mmscfd.
"We are preparing the five stations this year," he said.
