Ministry proposes special mining body

The government has proposed to set up a special body managing the country?s mining assets similar to the upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Sudirman Said stated Friday.

He said that the plan is included in the government?s draft of the revised 2009 Mining Law.

Sudirman added that the special body would manage the mining concessions in the country and would be engaged in transaction with business entities. He did not provide further details.

Sudirman has recently said that the revision of the 2009 Mining Law is expected to be completed this year.
