Ministry pushing for development of gas stations in Sumatra

To support the oil to gas fuel conversion program, particularly for the government together with production sharing contractors (PSC) holders and private sector will build gas stations in the eastern part of Sumatra and ensure the gas supply.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo said last weekend in Prabumulih that PT Medco E&P has expressed willingness to construct a gas station in Muara Enim, particularly to supply gas fuel used in vehicles operating in agriculture and mining sectors.
Meanwhile, PT Sinar Mas will install a converter kit in its 1,000 trucks.
Susilo said that at present, consumption of oil based fuels reaches 1.4 million barrels a day, with next year the figure expected to increase to 1.6 million barrels per day.
