The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) has requested state-owned electricity firm PT PLN to include the South Sumatra 9 and South Sumatra 10 mine mouth power plant projects, and the high voltage direct current transmission/HDVC in the 2016-2025 electricity procurement business plans (or RUPTL).

MEMR said on Monday in a statement these projects must also be realized.

The MEMR and other related ministries and government offices held a meeting on Monday reviewing the RUPTL document submitted by PLN to the ministry on May 2 for approval.

This portal reported on Monday, quoting a source that PLN has dropped three power plant projects including South Sumatra 9 mine mouth, South Sumatra 10 mine mouth, and South Sumatra 8 mine mouth, and the Sumatra-Java HDVC transmission line from the electricity blueprint document. The projects were included in the previous RUPTL. The MEMR statement did not say anything about the South Sumatra 8 mine mouth power plant project.

PLN is required to make a RUPTL each year and under Electricity Law No. 30/2009, the RUPTL must be approved by the minister of energy and mineral resources through a decree. The meeting on Monday has suggested for PLN to make a number of revisions into the new RUPTL.

The statement said that minister of energy and mineral resources is expected to approve the RUPTL in June of this year.
