The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will lobby the Ministry of Finance as it seeks to revise the new Tax Directorate General Regulation No 47/PJ/2015 on land and building tax (or PBB) applied on mineral and coal miners.
New Coal Chief at the ministry, Agung Pribadi told Petromnido.com that the new PBB tax ruling is quite burdensome for coal miners amid the current drop in coal price.
Under an earlier ruling, the PBB tax is calculated based on the size of land and construction on top of it. Under the new ruling, which has been effective since January 1, coal or mineral contained in it is included in determining the tax.
?This is quite burdensome for the coal miners,? he said.
The Indonesia Coal Mining Association (ICMA) has also protested the new ruling. ?Many have protested the new PBB calculation,? said ICMA Executive Director Supriatna Sahala.
