Only four months away, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry has yet to decide on the extension of contract for the Siak block in Riau, which expires on November 27, 2013.

"We are still evaluating the technical and legal aspects, such as what's the remaining reserve, and whether there is still upside potential, and so on," said Director General of Oil and Gas Edy Hermantoro to Petromindo.com, on Tuesday.

Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo, said the fate of the Siak Block, and its current operator PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia, is still in discussion.

The government previously cited the possibility of PT Pertamina's involvement in managing the block after being extended.
