Ministry studies O-Bahn transportation system

The Ministry of Transportation is studying an alternative mass rapid transportation system for cities in Indonesia in the form of a combination of bus rapid transit (BRT) and light rapid transit (LRT), or also called “O-Bahn.”
Director General of Land Transportation at the ministry, Budi Setiyadi said in a statement issued Sunday that the ministry is seeking to optimize mass rapid transportation systems in cities in Indonesia in a bid to help resolve traffic problem.
“The year 2019 is the era for the Ministry of Transportation to overhaul all facilities related to mass transportation. We must quickly respond because a number of large cities in Indonesia have already suffered traffic jams,” he said, but did not provide further details about the O-Bahn plan.
