The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has suspended the so-called special production operation mining business permits (also known as IUP OPK) of eight coal firms as they have failed to make regular reports of their mining and post-mining activities, Kontan reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Director of Coal Management and Development at the ministry Adhi Wibowo as saying that the eight coal firms include PT Bumi Utama Perkasa, CV Dwijaya Prima Energi, PT Niaga Samudra, PT Putra Tujuh Sebelas, PT Satu Enam Sembilan, PT Transco Prima Indonesia, PT Sumber Surya Pratama, and PT CPAZ Resources.

He said that the firms are required to make monthly and quarterly reports about production and selling activities to the ministry. ?This (the suspension of the IUP OPK) is a form of administrative sanction,? he said, but did not provide further details. (*)
