Ministry threatens to transfer operatorship of four geothermal areas

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources threatened to take over and transfer the operatorship of four geothermal working areas unless the developers resume exploitation activities before the end of next year, Kontan daily reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted Geothermal Director at the ministry Tisnaldi as saying that the after exploration activities at the four geothermal working areas have been completed, exploitation activities have been stalled as the areas turned out to be located in forest conservation areas.

The four geothermal working areas include Gunung Hiyang Argopura area in East Java developed by PT Pertamina Goethermal Energi, Cibuni area in West Java developed by KJK Teknosa, Ciater area in West Java developed by PT Wahana Sembada Sakti, and Kotamobago area in North Sulawesi developed by PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi.
